Tasting Notes
The Family Series 2nd Generation Syrah 2020 has a beautifully perfumed nose, with loads of freshly cut red berries, pink peppercorn, and a hint of leather. The entry to the palate is bright, beautifully weighted, and opens to a medley of flavour, with wonderful fruit purity. The acidity is refreshing, and the tannins are fine and grippy, while the finish is long and wonderfully dry.
Winemaker’s Comments
A new take on Syrah for Saxenburg and the first ever Saxenburg bottling with a large whole bunch component. Special sections picked earlier, a large portion whole bunch fermented and very gentle extraction during ferment, means this wine is bright, fresh and almost nervy. It unfurls with time in the glass and does well with a few hours of decanting. This wine shows our commitment to evolving our style in an effort to better showcase our incredible terroir.
