A quick and easy festive Christmas appetiser to serve friends and family.
INGREDIENTS
2 Sheets shop bought puff pastry, thawed
6 Tablespoons Basil Pesto
1 Egg, beaten
Sesame seeds, basil leaves, sun-dried tomatoes (optional)
METHOD
Preheat oven to 190 degrees. Roll out 1st sheet of pastry onto parchment paper placed on a baking tray. Spread the pesto on the pastry. Cover it with the 2nd sheet. Cut the shape of a tree. Keep spare pastry to cut stars out. Cut tree branches. Twist the branches away from you. Use a star for the top of the tree. Brush with egg. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Bake 15 to 20 minutes until puffed and golden. Transfer to serving dish.
