Tasting Notes:
Saxenburg Private Collection Shiraz 2009
Ripe, dark fruit on the nose with notes of plum and crushed blackberries complemented by worn leather and oak shavings. The palate is rich, with dark fruit and oak dominating, while the beautifully balanced acidity provides length. The tannins are fine, but well-structured and make for a full-bodied example of the variety. Click here to view our current Shiraz vintage.
Saxenburg Private Collection Merlot 2007
Good fruit intensity – ripe cherries and prunes – coupled with meatiness, dried herbs and a slight herbaceous note. The wine is beautifully fresh on the entry, with good tannin structure, but the tannin finishes a bit too abruptly. The acidity is bright, but not too harsh. Opens up in the glass. Saxenburg Private Collection Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
This is a beautiful example of Polkadraai Cabernet. Well structured, but finely grained palate, with seamlessly integrated oak. Loads of fresh red and blackberries are complemented by ripe plums and cherries. This wine has plenty of length and while drinking beautifully now, will age with grace.
