Tasting Notes:
Family Series Winemaker’s Blend White 2021 – Small-batch produced exclusively for the Wine Club Box
The nose shows beautiful notes of ripe yellow pears, baked apples, and sweet apricot blossoms. The fruit follows through to a palate that is textured and marked by a soft, but lingering acidity There is a sense of minerality throughout the palate, which is a wonderful counterbalance for the richness derived from extended lees ageing.
Limited Release Sauvignon Blanc / Sémillon 2021 – Pre-release
A wonderful wet quartz-like minerality on the nose opens to aromas of white peach, litchi, gooseberry, and lemongrass. The palate, while full and textured, is balanced by a lingering acidity.
Saxenburg Family Series 2nd Generation Syrah 2020 – Small-batch produced exclusively for the Wine Club Box
A beautifully perfumed nose, with loads of freshly cut red berries, pink peppercorn, and a hint of leather. The entry to the palate is bright, beautifully weighted and opens to a medley of flavour, with wonderful fruit purity. The acidity is refreshing, and the tannins are fine and grippy, while the finish is long and wonderfully dry.

Private Collection Pinotage 2020 – Pre-release
The colour is bright red and on the nose, you will find loads of red cherries, raspberries, blueberries, and blossoms, balanced by a faint whiff of damp soil. The beautiful fruit on the nose carries through to a palate that is elegant, with finely grained tannins.
Private Collection Merlot 2006 – Vinotèque
The 16 years of ageing is starting to show in the colour of the wine, but don’t let this fool you – this wine is full of life and character! A very attractive nose of ripe, slightly jammy, berries, pencil shavings and worn leather. The palate has a sense of freshness to it, with a great line of acidity beautifully balanced by the sweet taste of molasses. The tannins are still very much present and add further interest to the palate.

Private Collection Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 – Vinotèque
After 14 years, the colour is still dark, with very little sign of ageing. The nose is impressive, with loads of fresh blue- and blackberries, pencil shavings, and some tobacco leaf. These aromatics follow through to a palate that is dense, with its wonderfully fine tannins still very much present. The beautiful long, dry finish leaves you wanting more!
