Description
Private Collection Pinotage 1995
A Taste of 25 Years – Collectors release from the Bührer Family Library.
The Saxenburg Private Collection Pinotage 1995 is still bright red in colour, this wine has aged with grace. Upon opening, it is somewhat earthy (think forest floor and mushrooms) in profile, but with time this dissipates to reveal lovely blue and red berries. These are complemented by notes of coffee beans, fresh tomatoes and a herbal edge. The palate is light and fresh but has maintained beautifully finely grained and soft tannins. Decant before serving.
Private Collection Pinotage 1999
A Taste of 21 Years – Vinotéque Release
The Saxenburg Private Collection Pinotage 1999 has loads of leather and caramel give way to ripe mulberries, blueberries and raspberry jam. This wine has an incredible density to it, and the tannins are beautifully integrated and provide a lovely grip. Decant and allow at least 30 minutes before tasting for this wine to come into its own.
Private Collection Pinotage 2000
A Taste of 20 Years – Vinotéque Release
The Saxenburg Private Collection Pinotage 2000 is incredible youthfulness for a wine of 20 years old! Beautifully concentrated fruit on the nose – expect ripe cherries, blackberries and a tightly packed palate. This wine has a real balance to it, and the finish is long and seamless. One would be forgiven to mistake this for a beautifully matured Pinot noir! Be patient and allow this wine to open up before serving.
