Description
The Private Collection Syrah 2017 has a beautiful nose of black cherries, red berries, and a hint of pepper and spice. The palate is seamless – the tannin dense, but finely grained. Hints of oak are beautifully integrated and only add to the incredible complexity. A note of crushed granite and floral elements brings freshness to the palate that finishes with sweet spice.
The Private Collection Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 vintage was in many respects superior to the much famed 2015 vintage and this wine is a testament to that. As is typical with Cabernet Sauvignons from the Polkadraai Hills ward, this wine has an incredible freshness and elegance to it, even though the tannins are still young and firm. Beautiful aromas of tobacco leaves, plums and blackcurrant lead to a palate that is nicely weighted and finely grained.
The Private Collection Pinotage 2020 vintage stood out for its elegance. This wine is made in a much lighter style than most commercial Pinotage, but we believe the brightness and freshness of this wine truly represent the wonderful site on which the vineyard is planted. Earlier picking and gentle handling in the cellar allow the fruit to truly shine. The colour is bright red and on the nose, you will find loads of red cherries, raspberries, blueberries, and blossoms, balanced by a faint whiff of damp soil. The beautiful fruit on the nose carries through to a palate that is elegant, with finely grained tannins. The finish is pleasantly dry, without being astringent.
